The 2026 MLB postseason has officially reached the point where every game can dramatically reshape the World Series market.
The field is now down to six teams.
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays have already punched their tickets to the League Championship Series, while the Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Guardians, Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres are still fighting to advance.
The New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves are officially eliminated.
And with the World Series market moving rapidly, the biggest question isn’t simply “Who is the best team?”
It’s:
Which teams are actually being priced correctly?
2026 MLB Playoff Picture
National League
Los Angeles Dodgers — ADVANCED
The Dodgers eliminated the Atlanta Braves 3-1 in the NLDS, winning Game 4 by a 4-1 score.
Los Angeles is now waiting for the winner of the Milwaukee Brewers-San Diego Padres series and will open the NLCS on Sunday. (Reuters)
Milwaukee Brewers — LEADING 2-1
Milwaukee has a chance to close out San Diego in Game 4, but the Padres stayed alive with a 4-3 victory in Game 3.
The Brewers finished the regular season with MLB’s best record and remain one of the biggest threats to Los Angeles in the National League. (Reuters)
San Diego Padres — TRAILING 1-2
San Diego avoided elimination and forced another game against Milwaukee.
The Padres are now in a must-win situation if they want to keep their World Series hopes alive. (Reuters)
American League
Tampa Bay Rays — ADVANCED
Tampa Bay swept the New York Yankees 3-0 and is headed to the ALCS.
The Rays won Game 3 in New York 4-3 behind a decisive two-run homer from Victor Mesa Jr. and strong bullpen work. (Reuters)
Chicago White Sox — LEADING 2-1
Chicago took a 2-0 lead in the ALDS before Cleveland fought back with a 9-3 Game 3 victory.
The White Sox can still advance with one more win, but Cleveland has forced the series to at least four games. (Reuters)
Cleveland Guardians — TRAILING 1-2
Cleveland’s Game 3 victory kept the season alive.
The Guardians now have another opportunity to even the series in Game 4 on Thursday afternoon. (Reuters)
Current World Series Odds
The most recent available market snapshot from October 7 had the Dodgers as the clear favorite.
DraftKings World Series odds:
- Los Angeles Dodgers: +150
- Milwaukee Brewers: +370
- Tampa Bay Rays: +380
- Chicago White Sox: +800
- New York Yankees: +1600
- Atlanta Braves: +1800
- San Diego Padres: +2200
- Cleveland Guardians: +3500
Those prices were posted before the Yankees and Braves were eliminated, so the market has already changed materially. (CBS Sports)
A more recent community-market snapshot late Wednesday night had the remaining teams priced approximately:
- Dodgers: +126 market odds · 44% implied chance
- Rays: +305 market odds · 25% implied chance
- Brewers: +396 market odds · 20% implied chance
- White Sox: +1032 market odds · 8.8% implied chance
- Padres: +1557 market odds · 6.0% implied chance
- Guardians: +2379 market odds · 4.0% implied chance
These figures came from BettorEdge’s market and were reported at 11:09 PM ET Wednesday, so they should be treated as a market snapshot, not a guaranteed live sportsbook price. (BettorEdge)
The Biggest Market Change: Tampa Bay
The Rays may be the most interesting team in the entire postseason right now.
They entered the postseason at much longer prices than the Dodgers, but after sweeping New York, Tampa Bay is now headed to the ALCS.
The Rays don’t have to beat the Yankees anymore.
They’ve already done it.
That matters because World Series futures aren’t just about team strength — they’re about the path a team has to take to win the championship.
Tampa Bay’s ALCS opponent will be either Chicago or Cleveland, with the White Sox currently leading that series 2-1. (MLB.com)
That creates a very different probability distribution than Tampa Bay had before the playoffs began.
The Dodgers Are Still the Team to Beat
Los Angeles remains the market favorite.
But now there’s an important distinction:
The Dodgers don’t have to play the Braves anymore.
They have already eliminated Atlanta and will face either Milwaukee or San Diego in the NLCS.
Los Angeles has reached the NLCS for the third consecutive season and is attempting to become the first National League team to win three straight World Series. (Reuters)
The market is heavily respecting that position.
But being the favorite doesn’t automatically mean being the best bet.
That’s where probability matters.
Solar Edge Betting Angle: Don’t Confuse Probability With Value
This is where the conversation gets interesting.
Suppose a model says:
Dodgers — 38% chance to win World Series
But the market is pricing them at:
44%
The Dodgers could still be the most likely team to win.
But they wouldn’t necessarily represent value at that price.
Now flip it.
If a team has:
Model probability: 25%
and the market implies:
20%
that’s a +5 percentage-point difference.
That’s the type of discrepancy a model should investigate.
The favorite isn’t automatically the value.
The longshot isn’t automatically the value either.
The edge comes from the difference between the model’s probability and the market’s probability.
What Matters Most During the MLB Playoffs?
The postseason changes how certain variables should be evaluated.
Starting Pitching
One elite starting pitcher can dramatically change the probability of a short series.
Bullpen Availability
This becomes even more important in October.
A reliever who has already been heavily used may not be available in the same role the following day.
Lineup Splits
Hitting performance against right-handed and left-handed pitching can become extremely important depending on the projected starter.
Defensive Performance
One error can completely change a postseason game.
We’ve already seen how important defense can be during this year’s playoffs, including the Yankees’ struggles against Tampa Bay. (Reuters)
The Bracket
This might be the most overlooked factor.
A team’s championship probability isn’t simply:
“How good is this team?”
It’s also:
“Who do they have to beat to get there?”
Today’s MLB Playoff Games
Thursday’s ALDS schedule originally included two games, but Rays at Yankees was cancelled after Tampa Bay’s sweep.
Guardians at White Sox — 5:00 PM ET
Chicago leads the series 2-1.
Cleveland has to win to force a decisive Game 5. (MLB.com)
Rays at Yankees — CANCELLED
This game was originally scheduled as an elimination game.
But Tampa Bay swept New York on Wednesday night, so the series is over.
The Rays advance to the ALCS. (Reuters)
The next NLDS game is Friday:
Padres at Brewers — 4:30 PM ET
Milwaukee leads the series 2-1 and can advance with a victory. (MLB.com)
What We’re Watching at Solar Edge
The remaining postseason isn’t about blindly picking whoever has the shortest World Series odds.
We’re watching for market inefficiencies.
The biggest areas to monitor:
- World Series implied probability
- NLCS/ALCS probabilities
- Starting-pitcher matchups
- Bullpen availability
- Lineup changes
- Injuries
- Market movement
- Team strength versus current price
- Remaining playoff path
As teams advance, the market will continue recalculating.
That creates new opportunities — but also creates new situations where popular teams can become overpriced.
Our Current Take
Dodgers: Still the team to beat, but the price matters.
Rays: Biggest market mover and now an extremely interesting AL contender after sweeping New York.
Brewers: Still dangerous and currently one win away from the NLCS.
White Sox: The postseason Cinderella story, but Cleveland has made this series much more interesting.
Padres: Still alive, but they have little room for error against Milwaukee.
Guardians: Fighting to extend the series and potentially completely change the AL picture.
The Bottom Line
The 2026 MLB postseason has reached the stage where the market can change faster than public perception.
The Dodgers are still the favorite.
The Rays have already eliminated one of the biggest names in baseball.
Milwaukee is trying to close out San Diego.
Chicago and Cleveland are still battling for the final ALCS spot.
And every game from here can materially change the World Series probability.
At Solar Edge, the objective isn’t simply to tell you who we think will win.
It’s to ask a better question:
Does the price accurately reflect the probability?
That’s where the edge is.
